Cold Laser Therapy: Pain Relief and Improved Healing

by | Mar 18, 2022

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and low-power laser therapy (LPLT), is a type of treatment that uses lasers to stimulate cell and tissue regeneration, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain.

It is a form of light therapy used to treat many different conditions including muscle pain, joint pain, arthritis, chronic back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and injuries. Cold Laser Therapy is a painless, non-invasive procedure that can be done in our chiropractic office and used as often as needed.

How Does Cold Laser Therapy Work?

Cold laser therapy uses light to cause a photochemical reaction in our cells, similar to photosynthesis in plants. The cold laser triggers biochemical changes in each cell leveraging our body’s natural healing mechanisms.

During a cold laser therapy session, an LLLT device is used to target injured or painful areas for treatment. You will only feel the device being applied to your skin, there is no pain.

These low doses of light have the ability to heal skin, nerves, tendons, cartilage, and bones. Generally, several sessions are required to promote tissue regeneration, inflammation reduction, and pain relief.

These sessions usually take just 10-15 minutes and can conveniently be scheduled together with your chiropractic adjustment to further support healing and provide faster pain relief.
