How BrainCore Therapy Can Help Relieve Post-Concussion Syndrome Symptoms

by | Jun 23, 2023

Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) is a condition that affects individuals who have experienced a concussion or head trauma. It’s a complex disorder that can cause a wide range of symptoms and can last for weeks, months, or even years after the initial injury. While there is no specific cure for post-concussion syndrome, various treatments and therapies are available to manage the symptoms. One such therapy is BrainCore Therapy, a form of neurofeedback, which has shown promising results in helping individuals looking for a drug-free solution get relief from post-concussion syndrome symptoms.

The symptoms of post-concussion syndrome can vary from person to person and may include headaches, dizziness, fatigue, memory problems, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. These symptoms can significantly impact an individual’s quality of life and ability to perform daily activities.

What is BrainCore Therapy?

BrainCore Therapy is a form of neurofeedback therapy, that uses real-time displays of brain activity to help individuals learn to self-regulate their brain waves and ultimately alleviate the symptoms of various neurological disorders. Neurofeedback therapy is based on the idea that by providing people with feedback on their brain activity, they can learn to control it and improve their overall functioning.

In my practice, I have chosen the BrainCore Therapy neurofeedback system because unlike traditional neurofeedback that provides visual representations in the forms of graphs or charts, BrainCore Therapy displays feedback in the forms of movies, music videos, puzzles, or games. It has been my experience that patients, both adults and children, adapt more easily to these familiar and fun methods and begin benefiting from the therapy that much sooner.

During the initial brain mapping session (qEEG), a cap is placed on the patient’s head to measure their brain activity, identify dysregulation, and establish the baseline for a therapeutic protocol. To facilitate monitoring brainwave activity and provide the patient with biofeedback in future therapy sessions, just a few electrodes are placed on the patient’s head. No needles, no sticky adhesives. BrainCore Therapy is painless and non-invasive.

During each session, the patient engages with visual feedback and learns to control their brainwave activity through a system of positive reinforcement. For example, while watching a movie as new pathways are formed and the desired brainwave patterns are produced, the screen will brighten. Same with puzzles and games, as goals are achieved the puzzle is completed, or the game advances. Most patients find therapeutic sessions relaxing and enjoyable.

How Does BrainCore Therapy Help Relieve PCS Symptoms?

Post-concussion syndrome is thought to be caused by changes in brain function that occur after a concussion. These changes can manifest as a range of physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms, including headache, dizziness, fatigue, sleep disturbances, irritability, and difficulty with concentration and memory.

Neurofeedback therapy has been shown to be effective in relieving many of these symptoms by helping individuals learn to regulate their brain activity and improve their overall brain function.

For example, research has shown that neurofeedback therapy can help reduce headache frequency and intensity in individuals with PCS. It has also been shown to improve sleep quality and reduce fatigue in these individuals.

In addition to these physical symptoms, neurofeedback therapy has also been found to be effective in improving cognitive functioning in individuals with PCS. This includes improving memory and attention span, as well as reducing irritability and mood disturbances, without pharmaceuticals.

Is BrainCore Therapy Safe and Effective?

Neurofeedback therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment option with no known side effects. It is a viable option for both children and adults and has no long-term risks. The growing body of research supports the effectiveness of neurofeedback therapy in relieving the symptoms of post-concussion syndrome in many of those suffering from its long-term effects.

There is hope if you or someone you know is struggling with post-concussion syndrome. In my practice, I offer complimentary consultations to answer any questions or concerns for those considering BrainCore Therapy to help relieve the physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms associated with PCS.
